Earlier this year I had already been anxious about the first-year review of my benefits. To my relief, they were extended. Then the programme aimed at helping me become work-ready was due to end. To my great relief, we were granted more time, but with fewer hours. I’m still struggling with it, trying to get used to it, because it is what it is, but honestly? Maybe the tears will keep burning in my eyes every Monday around 09:00 a.m.
The message just keeps coming: it doesn’t matter what you need, Ilse. You’re the one who has to adapt to the way things work.
